Edward Roelant  - Specialized in laser safety

Edward Roelant

Ed retired from General Motors in 2008 with 39 years experience in various engineering and safety roles.  His last 12 years at GM, he was a leader in GM manufacturing safety with an emphasis on design-in safety, including laser safety.  Ed was a GM Laser Safety Officer and chairman of the GM Laser Safety Committee from 2002-2008. 

In 2009 Ed started Roeltec LC specializing in laser safety.  He has inspected and validated over 200 laser systems for compliance to Federal and industry standards.  Over 140 of these systems are in walk-in Class 1 laser enclosures with robotic mounted laser heads and laser generators rated from 3000 - 8000 watts.  Ed has also written over 20 Laser Safety Product Reports and submitted them to the FDA/CDRH for customers. 

 

Frank Gajor - Laser Safety Consultant

Frank Gajor

Frank retired from General Motors in 2019 with 34 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering.  Frank spent his career at the plant and at staff level in both the GM Powertrain and Vehicle Systems organizations.  He led or participated in 100+ Safety Risk Assessment and safety design reviews.

From 2008-2019 Frank chaired the GM Global Laser Safety Committee.  In this role, he developed and implemented the GM Global Laser Safety Program which covers all aspects of laser safety for GM worldwide manufacturing sites. As part of this program, he:

  • developed all GM safety validation requirements for high powered laser systems

  • validated and reviewed 50+ laser systems at OEM / Integrators and GM plants

  • created and instructed laser safety training courses for plant support and engineering.

In 2019 Frank joing Laser Safety Associates as a Technical Specialist for industrial lasers.
